"European Tour-Manchester 1973"
King's Hall-Belle Vue
Incomplete show from Manchester September 12, 1973. Very good audience quality. The last two tracks are missing.
A very nice audience recording of the great '73 tour material. Recorder seemed in the rear of the venue. Mick sounds a little distant but the keyboards and horns are at a nice mix. Mick Taylor sounds great on his solos and puts in a classic Taylor performance. This Jap label CD would make a nice secondary pick-up for '73 stuff.
The title of this one really says it all, this is the Manchester September 12, 1973 show at King's Hall-Belle Vue. It's not the complete show as Jumpin' Jack Flash and Street Fighting Men are missing. The sound is surprisingly good for a 1973 audience recording (comparable er even better than Vienna), but basically suffers from all that an early 70s recording can suffer from: Mick's voice is a little too distant, Bill's bass is very audible, the guitars are not all the time, there's audience clapping and hiss. But overall it's nice to listen to this show and since there's no other known recording of this show we have to do with it. Later shows were either a Heartbreaker or Dancing With Mr. D show, but this Manchester show is one of the last that has both. This is a must for 1973 collectors.
